The
Heritage Bear

Standing about 5 feet tall and measuring approximately 10 feet long, the Heritage Bear has been an iconic fixture of the Valencia® community since its installation at the Grand Opening of FivePoint’s Heritage Park in 2005. The Heritage Bear, which holds the honor of being the first bear statue commissioned as part of the California Bear Project, was funded by the Newhall Land and Farming Company. Through a photographic collage, the life-size Heritage Bear tells the story of Santa Clarita Valley through layers of historical images, which serve as a point of education and connection for residents – the cornerstone of our communities.

The Heritage Bear is the work of Santa Clarita artist Scott Groller.

The California Bear Project statues honor the Grizzly bear that appears on the California state flag.
