FivePoint Chairman and CEO Emile Haddad was invited to present a keynote speech at the Los Angeles Business Council’s 14th Annual Sustainability Summit on September 22. It is the second time Haddad has been asked to present at the summit, which included more than 600 key leaders in government, business and academia.
It is unusual for a company like FivePoint, which is considered to be a real estate development company, to participate in this summit. Haddad was invited back because of FivePoint’s unique approach to community building, which is setting an industry standard for how sustainable societies are created by finding the balance between environmental justice and social equity.
Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and USC President Carol Folt were among the participants in the two-day virtual summit. The summit included discussions on California’s climate goals, social equity, California’s resiliency strategy in the face of growing natural disasters, and other sustainability-driven topics.
