It is said that people born in the Year of the Rat are clever, quick thinkers and successful – yet content with living a quiet and peaceful life.

People of varying ages and backgrounds gathered at Novel Park at Great Park Neighborhoods in Irvine on January 18 to celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat. The new year officially began on January 25, but it didn’t stop Great Park Neighborhoods from getting a jump start on the celebration.

The festivities included lion dance performances, traditional wind and drum music, sweet treats, crafts, and other family-friendly activities.
