FivePoint Brings Energy to Real-Life ‘Field of Dreams’ in Compton

Jackie Robinson, the great Dodgers legend who broke the color barrier in 1947 to be the first African American to play in Major League Baseball, once said, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”

In that spirit, FivePoint is joining the LA Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and other community leaders in supporting a multimillion-dollar “Dodgers Dreamfields” renovation of Gonzales Park in Compton, California. This latest Dreamfield is designed to support youth baseball and softball, from T-ball to college athletics.

FivePoint is underwriting the design and installation of solar technology to power the scoreboard, press box and field lighting, and the installation of EV chargers in the sports complex’s adjacent parking lot.

The Phase 1 completion was unveiled on April 15, 2021. FivePoint joined LADF and city dignitaries at the event to celebrate the latest updates in the park’s renovation, which includes updated playing surfaces, fencing, dugouts, irrigation, lighting, paint and scoreboards within Jackie Robinson Stadium and surrounding fields.

The Dodgers Dreamfields renovation in Compton is part of FivePoint’s larger commitment to create opportunities for young California residents to have access to state-of-the-art sports facilities. We believe every child – regardless of geography, race or economic status -- deserves this opportunity to enjoy America’s favorite pastime and take the field alongside friends, neighbors, family members and teammates and make memories and dream of scoring the winning run.
