The City of Irvine and FivePoint's joint venture have agreed to a $250 million plan to build an aquatic center, field house and other state-of-the-art public facilities that will also be home to USA Water Polo’s Olympic athletes and hopefuls.

“Not only is the proposed facility intended as a permanent training base for the men’s and women’s Olympic teams that for decades have been temporary guests in a variety of public and private pools in the SoCal region, it will almost certainly be the polo venue for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics,” predicts Swimming World Magazine.

The USA Men's and Women’s Senior National Teams both took gold in the 2019 Pan American Games last summer, qualifying for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games now scheduled for 2021 in Japan. The Women’s National Team won the gold medal in the 2016 and 2012 Olympic Games. The Men’s Team last medaled in the 2008 Olympics, earning a silver medal.
