Too often, the environmental and financial benefits of green technology do not extend to low-income communities. Collaborating with respected nonprofit groups GRID Alternatives and Climate Resolve, FivePoint is working to ensure sustainability benefits more families in Southern California.
Recently, FivePoint completed a pilot project to retrofit 25 homes in disadvantaged Los Angeles County communities with solar installations and reflective “cool roofs” that reduce home energy needs. And investments in more homes are planned for the future.
These investments provide a win-win for both homeowners and the environment by:
- Generating zero-emission energy
- Reducing home energy needs
- Lowering electricity costs by up to 90 percent, and
- Emitting fewer greenhouse gasses
