FivePoint partner architect Studio One Eleven was awarded a Merit Award for the design of the 8-acre “art village” at the heart of the Cadence Park community by the American Institute of Architects Orange County (AIAOC).

The award was announced as part of AIAOC’s annual competition honoring the best and most innovative designs of the year. It is the latest award for excellence in design, architecture and planning within Great Park Neighborhoods, which has received more than 100 honors since the community’s first neighborhood, Pavilion, opened in 2013.

The AIAOC architects selecting the winning designs offer notes and comments about the award-winners. The jury mentioned the more they saw the Cadence Park entry, the more they liked it, and how much they would love to have Cadence Park in their neighborhood.

Studio One Eleven also earned a Citation Award in the Commercial/Unbuilt category for the firm’s proposed design for Warehouse 415, repurposing a structure that remains from MCAS El Toro as a new community space.

The AIAOC jury said the concept of bringing the park into the space and engaging the building, making this indoor space outdoor space an “interesting adaptive reuse project.”
